Whiskey Del Bac Ode To Islay American Single Malt Whiskey is Hamilton Distillers' tribute to the peated whiskies of Scotland's Islay, made in Tucson, Arizona. Instead of the mesquite smoke that defines most Del Bac bottlings, this release is distilled from peat-smoked malt, then aged in the Sonoran Desert heat and bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV).The nose is earthy peat smoke with a desert twist. The palate balances that smoke against dark chocolate, dried fruit and toffee, with a full, luscious mouthfeel from the high proof. The finish is long, smoky and sweet. A few drops of water soften the heat and bring the fruit forward. It is a whiskey for Lagavulin and Ardbeg drinkers curious about what peat does under an Arizona sun.Ode To Islay is a limited release, so this 750ml bottle is one for collectors of peated whisky and American single malt.
